  • Project Safety Information

  • Describe the projected maximum volume of water your project needs. Specify the method for which water will be contained. How will you be getting the water? Describe how you will be disposing of the water. If applicable describe safety considerations made for projects that have both water and electricity in close proximity.
  • Describe what chemicals and or liquids needed for your project's construction / operation. Why is the chosen liquid, gas or chemical needed for your project? Attach links to safety data sheets provided by the manufacturer. Additionally describe the safety precautions you will be using when working with said liquids and/or chemicals, including spill/leak prevention or mitigation.
  • Describe the maximum watt-hours and voltage of each battery and the quantity of batteries required for your project. Additionally describe the chemical makeup of the battery and attach links to safety data sheets provided by the manufacturer. (Safety data sheets will be required before batteries may be brought into the facility). Outline the storage, identification and charging methods for batteries. If applicable, describe any safety precautions taken to ensure safe development of custom batteries.
  • Estimate the maximum and nominal voltage/current of your project for both testing and operation. If applicable, specify input and output values. Describe safety precautions being taken by your team when working around high voltage and/or current sources, including any failure modes and if there is a risk of arcing
  • Describe the liquid or gas that will be pressurized and the containment method. Additionally elaborate on the safety precautions developed when working with pressurized liquid and/or gasses. Attach links to the safety data sheets of the pressurized liquid or gas provided by the manufacturer. Who is supplying the method of pressure? (shop pressure, air compressor, etc.)
  • The launching of projectiles is typically not permitted within the FEDC. Describe the maximum and nominal exit velocity of the projectile as well as the material of the projectile. Additionally elaborate on the safety precautions developed to ensure no projectiles are fired when working on the project.
  • If applicable describe any of the following: The maximum amount of nuclear material in milliCuries (mCi). The type of radiation emission and the expected radiation exposure at 1 meter in micro-rem (µR). Detail the output wattage (in mW) of your laser and supply additional information from the manufacturer. Provide the maximum and nominal magnetic field strength (in milli-Tesla). Describe the maximum expected sound in decibels (dB) produced by your project. For any of the above, describe the safety precautions developed.
  • Describe the usage of your robot / drone. Does your project have an easily accessible kill switch? Please elaborate. If applicable propellers must be removed when inside the design studio.
  • By writing your name here, you agree that your project has no safety risks associated. Failure to indicate any risks will result in dismissal.
  • Drone Flight Rules

  • PLEASE mark or label your drone with your FAA REGISTRATION Number.
  • FAA Registration Required!

You cannot continue your drone project without FAA approval. Click here to register your drone with the FAA

  • Make sure to properly mark your drone with your FAA registration number before bringing it to the Fischer EDC.
