Materials Testing
Brinnel Hardness Tester
Basic Specifications
The Brinell hardness test method as used to determine Brinell hardness. Most commonly it is used to test materials that have a structure that is too coarse or that have a surface that is too rough to be tested using another test method, e.g., castings and forgings. Brinell testing often use a very high test load (3000 kgf) and a 10mm diameter indenter so that the resulting indentation averages out most surface and sub-surface inconsistencies.

Model Sedimentation Tank

The Armfield Model Sedimentation Tank has been designed to demonstrate the hydraulic characteristics and settling efficiencies of a model settling basin. Although scale-up to industrial size sedimentation tanks is difficult, relevant deductions can be made as to how non uniform flows occur and how these interact with the settling characteristics of particular suspensions.
Modular Cross Flow Filtration
Basic Specifications
The Armfield FT18-MkII is a pilot-scale cross-flow filtration system designed to operate with a range of membrane module configurations. It can operate with minimal material but still give data that is useful for process scale-up.
6″x6″ Wind Tunnel
Basic Specifications
Wind Tunnel with 6″ x 6″ cross section. Typically used for fin testing experiments.
The wind tunnel comes equipped with two different fin attachments.
Two long metallic rods, one made of aluminum and one made of carbon steel, are inserted into the wind tunnel for convective heat transfer experiments. The Bases of rods are electrically heated.
Five thermocouples are embedded in the rod along the length direction with the distance from the base of 1.5”, 3”, 4.5”, 6”, 7.5” respectively. Air temperature is also measured with a thermocouple.
One set has a diameter of 0.5″ and another has a diameter of 0.75″
Wind Tunnel AF100
Basic Specifications
TecQuipment offers a range of additional and optional models and instrumentation to extend the experiments, including a data acquisition system (VDAS®), which automatically collects and records data.
The wind tunnel comes equipped with several different drag models.

Smoke Generator
Basic Specifications
The smoke generator is used with the AF100 Wind tunnel to allow the user to more easily visualize the flow over a fin.
