Are you planning on visiting Zachry? Want to see what the newest equipment that Texas A&M has to offer its engineering students such as a maker space and exclusive industrial training?

If so, come out and schedule a tour with the Fischer EDC! We would love to give you or your group a tour of what the Fischer EDC has to offer for all its users. Just fill out the form below and someone will contact you within 1-2 business days. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info-fedc@tamu.edu.

Pending approval via email, please meet the designated staff personnel at Zachry Engineering (125 Spence St) in Room 111.

FEDC FACILITY TOUR REQUEST

The Fischer Engineering Design Center offers two types of tours:

  • Standard Tour – A walk through the Zachry 111 lobby. The lobby is designed to give great views of the Project assembly, Fabrication Center, and Prototyping Facility from a safety distance (no Personal Protective Equipment needed).
  • VIP tour – Facility manager or their representative will give a more detailed and extensive tour of through the facility. All attendees will need to be in appropriate Personal Protective Equipment: safety glasses, closed-toes shoes, long pants, and sleeved shirts.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING DEFINITIONS:

(All PPE is required – If PPE is deemed inappropriate by any staff member then they will not be allowed “behind the glass” for a full tour)

  • Long pants – must cover the top/opening of the shoe, not just touch it. The pants must completely cover the opening of the shoe to prevent anything sliding down the pants into the shoe. Pants and shirts should have no holes, deformations, cuts or rubouts that will show skin or underclothes.
  • Shirts – are defined as having complete circular sleeves that cover the side deltoid muscle. Examples are t-shirts, button-up oxfords, polos or Carharts. Shirts must not have holes or loose frays of thread.
  • Closed shoes – are defined as having a hard sole at least 1/4″ thick. Shoes must cover all toes including the sides, and must cover the top of the foot to the ankle from all sides. The heel must be completely enclosed. Shoes must be made of a substantial material able to withstand the impact of any falling materials.
  • Safety glasses – are defined as clear polycarbonate wraparound Z87.1 certified. Safety googles that are flexible are prohibited.

Special events are extremely limited as the Fischer Engineering Design Center is primarily a build center and not a classroom or conference room. Unannounced and unapproved tours will be turned away. You will receive an email once the tour has been scheduled/approved.

All request must be submitted 48 hours in advance.
