Workspaces Available

What types of workspace does the FEDC have?

The Project Room (110) has 4 Soldering Stations with Electronic Measurement equipment, 1 specialty soldering station with Microscope, 1 3d Scanner Station, and 2 Construction Zone Stations.

Can I move equipment off the workspaces?

No, most are locked down. If you need a piece of equipment please email [email protected] for help.

Workbench

How do I reserve a workbench for my team?

Obtain access privileges, register your team, then request a tablespace. All forms are found on the FEDC Resource web page.

Who can use my WORKBENCH?

Only your assigned team. All other students will be asked to stay away from your project.

What comes with my WORKBENCH?

The workbench is a 4×4 table that comes with a rolling cart, power strip, and 2 chairs.

Storage Spaces

Where can I store my project?

On your assigned workspace, cabinet, rolling cart or you can reserve a locker.

What is Link parking?

Link parking is a 4×4 table that is stored in the basement of the FEDC. It can be brought up and used in one of the Link parking workspaces. Link parking is for teams that use the FEDC less frequently than others.

Does the FEDC have short term bulk storage?

Yes, see the technician on duty. We can only store items for a week.

Equipment Checkout

What do I need to check out items?

Be a registered user with access privileges and know your UIN number.

How long can I check an item?

Most items are for the day (generally 4 hours). They stay at your work table or at the work stations.

Do you have a long term reservation so I do not have to check something out daily?

Yes, you can request a semester-long reservation. You will be responsible for the item.

Can I take an item from the FEDC?

Generally NO. You must have written permission from the FEDC manager to remove an item form the FEDC.

What is available for usage?

Drone Usage

Can I fly my drone inside the FEDC?

No drones can be flown inside the FEDC or Zachry.

Do I need to mark my drone with an ID number?

Yes, all drones must have an FAA registration number on the body of the drone.

Can I fly outside Zachry or in the E-quad?

Unless you have an FAA drone pilot license and a flight plan you cannot fly on campus because we are in the Easterwood Airport exclusion zone.

Differential tuition pays for enhancements to the learning experience of undergraduate students in engineering. These enhancements include extra sections of overfull courses, new computers and equipment, and even extra lecturers to teach classes. Learn more about differential tuition here.
