Fischer EDC Machine Shop: Red Badge Training

Training Description

The purpose of this Pop-Up class will acquaint students to the FEDC Machine Shop areas and safety procedures. We’ll discuss access procedures and give a closer look at the machines in our shop. Students will be able to ask questions to gain further insight into what we are able to do as a facility. 

Course Duration: 2h

Prerequisite(s): 

  • Apply for membership
  • Have an iLabs account

Steps to Receive Red Badge

Step 1: Ensure you have General Membership (this can be verified by receiving an email titled “Fischer EDC Membership Request was completed by…”).

Step 2: Complete the Red Badge Online Fabrication Safety Quiz (found with the redirection at the bottom of the page) with a passing score of 95.

Step 3: Upon receiving a passing score, an iLab registration link for the in-person Red Badge Safety Training will be sent to your email. Register for an available timeslot, indicated by a light blue slot.

Step 4: Visit the FEDC, bringing full PPE required, to take the in-person pop-up course that covers the following:

  • Shop PPE Requirements 
  • Location of shop safety equipment
  • Shop cleaning procedures
  • Machine equipment locations
  • Safety procedures

Online Fabrication Safety Quiz
